Sum It Up Sunday - Vegan Bakesale

I've been keen on heading to the World Wide Vegan Bake Sale at Nooch Vegan Market in Denver, ever since I found out they were having it. It did not disappoint!

I grabbed my niece to accompany me, with her pup Violet, so that I would be able to try more things. Like that cupcake you see up there. It was fabulous! Piña colada flavored and with bits of coconut. Sometimes I've found vegan baked goods, especially the cakes and cupcakes, to be gummy, cloying and wet. Not this little number. Like I said, FABULOUS!

Sarah and I, along with my buddy Joe, shared the tots and burger which were good. But that poutine you see there? From Wong Way Veg? I don't know what witchcraft she uses to make that eggplant "bacon" but I want MORE!  So damm good! And her fries stayed crispy in the gravy, which isn't so easy to do. Thank you Lisa Wong, you did it right!

The bake sale was benefiting the Rooster Sanctuary at Danzig's Roost Nonprofit Organization. The line of folks there, waiting to buy boxes and bags full of sweets, cookies and cakes was humongous! That ain't a bad thing for the sanctuary and I didn't mind waiting my turn either.

Nooch Market was open for business and I was jazzed to see our old friends The Herbivorous Butcher had a great selection of goods in their cooler. I even told one gal next to me how amazing the Korean BBQ ribs are and she grabbed the last package. Time to restock Nooch!

There were other, earth friendly, goods for sale at the event. I was happy to see the table laden with metal straws, tiffins, etc. The more we move from the disposable to the reusable items the better for the Big Blue Marble.

Lastly, as the event was going on, a house nearby had a small crowd on their front patio. Some of the men were wearing red MAGA hats, one had on a cowboy hat and an American flag shirt and a young boy of about 14 was wearing a Confederate flag sweatshirt. While they watched all the vegan goings on they were grilling hot dogs or sausages. I think they were hoping for some kind of confrontation. The crew over at the bake sale and food trucks could have cared less. There was too much of a good time going on for them to waste time on that nonsense.
