Eye on the Pie
John Lehndorff is a Boulder County Food Writing Institution. He’s been a food critic, food journalist, pie judge and so much more. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get to sit and chat with him.
We talk about clambakes, restaurants that were, bakeries that are, and all the intricate requirements for the perfect pie in “Eye on the Pie”, Episode 60 of the Something About Food? Podcast.
Boulder-based journalist John Lehndorff has been writing and talking about food in Colorado (and the world) since the late 1970s. Food Editor of the Daily Camera for 15 years, his Nibbles column appeared in newspapers across the nation. He was the Dining Critic for the Rocky Mountain News and penned a dining guide book. Lehndorff's food writing has appeared in national publications including the Washington Post, Town and Country and Cheese Connoisseur. Now he writes Nibbles for the Boulder Weekly and the monthly Tastebuds column for Sensi magazine. For more than 20 years he has hosted the weekly Radio Nibbles program on KGNU. A self-proclaimed a pie expert, he is the former Chief Judge of the National Pie Championships, Executive Director of the American Pie Council and spokesperson for National Pie Day. Lehndorff has cooked in restaurant kitchens, taught cooking classes and organized food-related benefit events. His concurrent career since the 1970s has been writing about music, mostly bluegrass and folk.
