Eating Wright

There is so much more to Dr. Devon Wright than meets the eye. Professor of Africana Studies? ✅ Avid bike commuter? ✅ Jazz musician? ✅ Creator of a graphic novel about a dystopian future with a jazz guitar playing antihero? ✅✅

Our conversation covers all those things, with McDonald’s french fries, going mostly vegetarian, and Jamaican rum cake tying it all back to food on “Eating Wright”, Episode 57 of the Something About Food? Podcast.

Dr. Devon Wright holds a Bachelor’s in history, a Master’s in history and a Ph.D. in sociology. He holds a faculty position as Assistant Professor of Africana Studies at Metropolitan State University of Denver, teaching various courses including Introduction to Africana Studies, Social Movements and the Black Experience, The Black Community and Hip-Hop Culture and Rap Music. His research interests focus on white supremacist ideology and right-wing conservative social movements and organizations.

Dr. Wright is also a jazz guitarist and science fiction writer of a graphic novel series about musicians as superheroes in a post-apocalyptic future. Visit for more.
