Good Food News - The Oscars and Food

I don’t agree with all the bits that Chowhound chose for their 15 Best Food Scenes in Best Picture Winning Movies blog post, but I do agree that food scenes in films can be sexy, funny, hunger-inducing, and (looking at you, Hannibal) quite gross.

All tables should have a lazy susan in the middle of them. Don’t you agree? We had one growing up.

My two favorite Oscar winning film food scenes would be in Eat Drink Man Woman and Babettes Feast, both Foreign Language Film Oscar winners. It is much more than one scene, actually, they contain a veritable feast of food-filled scene after swoon inducing food-filled scene. The care and attention both main characters put into their food was very much an influence on my culinary interests.

Though it didn’t win an Oscar, if you really want to watch a movie that will have you wanting to eat ALL the pasta look up Big Night. What Stanley Tucci and Tony Shaloub do with food is fun and filled with community around the table. We stand by that like a perfectly flipped timbale!
