Sum It Up Sunday - Be Loud!

One of the all-time best noises in the world is when a young child is drinking out of a cup, stops and lets out an audible “aaaaaahhhhhhh”. That, my friends, is pure enjoyment, something many of us have lost as we grow older and and feel the weight of a world that often seems to be crumbling all around us.

This outdoor shower in Truth Or Consequences was glorious!

Lighten up, I say! I’m going to let you in on a secret- every single time I get into the shower and step into the stream of water I let out an audible “oh that’s so damn good”. Because it is! When that shower is over and I grab a towel to wipe off my face, I let out another audible “ahhhhh”. Why? It feels good! I don’t care that there isn’t anyone there to hear me, because I hear me.

Enjoyment is defined as the state or process of taking pleasure in something. I’ve known folks who hum when they eat. There are those who scream with delight as they ride an innertube down a snow slide. You don’t have to be young to enjoy, so you don’t have to be young to express that joy.

Oh boy that dal! Or dhal or lentils, whatever you call it, I let everyone know how good it was.

Let it out! Even you introverts can do it. That perceptible noise may only be heard by you, and that is a-ok. What it does is reinforce to your brain, via your ear canals, that this is something good happening here.

Living is not always easy, is it? Take a moment to savor what is enjoyable in this life and get loud about it!

Food. People. Experiences. This is what matters. Or should I say, FOOD! PEOPLE! EXPERIENCES! Make a joyful noise!

Now enjoy.
